DESCRIPTION
August 10, 2021, 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CDT
This presentation will give social workers tips and tools for understanding and mitigating how race/racism effects the client-clinician relationship. You will receive the answer to questions including:
- What if my client accuses me of being racist towards them?
- What if my client says something racist/bigoted towards me?
- How should I manage when a client talks about racism/bigotry they have experienced in the world?
- What role can psychoeducation play in addressing the underlying reasons clients struggle in these ways?
These matters have always been important. And they feel even more pressing as our culture reckons with the past and present. This presentation will give participants pertinent information for clinical work in our evolving world.
