DESCRIPTION

Please join Gladney University as we welcome Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S , EMDRIA Approved Consultant, who will be presenting the training Permission to Breathe: Patiently Growing Yourselves and Your Children. Raising children is hard under the best of circumstances. When you consider the many complexities that adopted children experience, parenting becomes even more complicated. While it can be helpful to pursue educational support for understanding how to navigate these dynamics, a crucial parenting strategy for adoptive parents has more to do with monitoring their own inner world than trying new techniques and interventions. The attachment and trauma struggles that impact adopted children will also stir attachment and trauma struggles in parents. This training will provide opportunity for parents to patiently evaluate and plan for their own development, while being encouraged to have permission to breathe.
