ADDRESSING COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Presented by: Gladney University

Dr. Robin P. Kochel, Ph.D. will present Addressing Common Questions About Autism Spectrum Disorder. A current overview of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through the framework of commonly asked questions:

  1. What is it?
  2. How common is it?
  3. Who is affected?
  4. Who is at risk?
  5. When does it develop?
  6. When is it detected/diagnosed?
  7. What causes (and does not cause) it?
  8. How is it treated/managed?
  9. What do families need to know now?

The most current research addressing these questions will be discussed, as well as next steps in these lines of research, practical information for affected families, and the value of families' participation in autism research.
